Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I have loved Timex's Expedition line for many years.I purchased this model in part because the band would not absorb perspiration - it's made of rubber.
Unfortunately, after only about six months of moderate use, the band began cracking in several places. The strap retainer was the first to go.Super glue worked for two additional days...Two weeks later, the band cracked in about 4 different places simultaneously. After about a week, the cracks became significantly worse and the band simply broke about 3/4 of an inch from the buckle.
I couldn't locate a replacement band either at local stores or on the internet. The Timex site doesn't sell the bands, but instead refers you to local retailers - who also don't have it.I also looked for after-market brands, but the connection points for this band are unique, and requires a micro-screwdriver to disengage it - not like a typical watch band spring pin.
This is really unfortunate because the watch itself is well designed, comfortable, and loaded with useful features. The inidglo illumination is very easy to read at night and has a positive engagement so it doesn't inadvertently come on and waste the battery.
So now I have an excellent time piece I can't wear or really use as anything but a pocket watch...If you like the Expedition line of Timex watches like I do, definitely look for a different model with a more durable - and replaceable - band.
